The KrishiKatta model was born from an understanding that business as usual was not going to create the sustainable, long-term change needed to end chronic agricultural problems in India. So, we forged a new approach.

We believe that improved access to agricultural inputs and services is one of the most important ways to boost yields and help smallholders move from subsistence to more market-oriented farming. Going a step further, we also believe that sustainable farming is the need of the future. Hence our work is centered on ecofriendly, bio-green regenerative technologies and supplies. The KrishiKatta Service Center model is a model of partnerships, we call it Network Partnerships.

KRISHIKATTA SERVICE CENTER FOR FARMERS

For Indian farmers, finding safe, high-quality farming supplies like fertilizer and pesticides has always been a challenge. Along with supplies farmers find it challenging to access scientific, technical knowledge for farming. To fill this critical service gap, MahaOrganic FPO through its KrishiKatta Service Center model has launched a market-oriented retail one-stop-shop model to support improved delivery of sustainable and ecofriendly farm supplies, services, and technologies. Farmers visiting KrishiKatta can get complete knowledge and purchase good quality products which have been selected for the stores because of their quality, authenticity and suitability for local conditions.

Serving as rural development centers that meet the needs of farmers for sustainable farming, KrishiKatta provides a range of chemical alternate, ecofriendly bio agricultural inputs (seeds, fertilizers, crop protection materials and post harvest equipment), crop advice, machinery services, veterinary services and products, training and information, marketing assistance for agricultural outputs, and access to credit for a sustainable agricultural transformation. The service center is not a regular agri input sales shop, instead it is a rural development center that works towards providing scientific and practical knowledge, services and products to make agriculture more sustainable and economical.

The KrishiKatta concept is essentially knowledge driven. Sharing knowledge and training farmers and other stakeholders is an important step towards achieving sustainable agriculture.

Our agriculture experts ensure that retailers and growers are supported in handling challenges on a daily basis. Besides operational advice, they devote much time and effort towards communicating basic knowledge concerning nature and its solutions. KrishiKatta aims to work closely with universities in India and oversees to make knowledge available to a wider target group.
